VOiP - The Concept
- VoIP or Voice over the Internet is the way phone calls can be made via the World Wide Web rather than a telephone exchange. In a domestic situation think Skype, typically used for speaking to friends and family around the world.
- ‘Our’ VoIP is “Business Quality” and is used for business calls and replaces phone systems in offices, hotels and other work places.
- Calls are routed via the internet, thus cutting out most of the overheads associated with traditional carriers such as BT.
- The concept is that we can probably provide businesses with modern, fully functional systems, with many additional benefits for about the same price (or even less) than they are currently paying – “New systems for Old”!
- A good example is a Care Home we recently upgraded. They had 15 extensions and got the brand new system for less than £10 more than they were paying before!
- As the “Exchange” is “hosted” in a secure, remote location all that is needed on-site is to plug the new “IP phones” into suitable sockets. They are then programmed remotely to the client requirements.
- Unlike traditional systems extensions don’t need to be in the same building. Thus you could have one in the owner or manager’s home. We ourselves in fact have phones in our offices in Lytham St Annes and also in Houston, Texas and in Austria. Calls between locations are free.
- The phones work anywhere there is internet access. They can be unplugged and plugged in elsewhere with minimal reprogramming.
- In the winter plug your phone in at home and avoid driving on icy roads! Your calls (in and out) will be routed and logged to the office. To all intents and purposes – you are in the office!
- As part of the package we can give most users free calls to anywhere (including mobiles).
